This article has some stats on what the modern day gamer is. Many people feel the average gamer is still below the age of 18, this article shows that the age and gender distribution is actually very even across ages 11-45. Sure statistics can be misleading, but i would vouch for these.

A tutorial on the A*(A-Star) algorithm is up and running. The Code is designed for beginners. If you are more advanced there we will add tutorials with better code and more options at a later date.
Getting Started
Well it was always our goal to start making video games, and we are sure alot of people out there have the same goals. Here at RookieGaming.com we want help you on that path. We have experienced programmers that have already faced those trials and tribulations. We are here to help, and build a community that is focused on the creation of video games.
We are also planning on posting games for the world to play. As we publish these game we will post tutorials on the different parts of the game. (Movement, Sound, Modeling, hit boxes "Bounding Boxes", A* Algorithm, and more). These games will be free to try, and have a small fee for the full version.
As for the community we are developing a customized forum in order to maximize the ability to sift though the information. This will take a bit of time, but it will be worth the wait. The forums will deal with the public line of communication, as for the private line we are developing a flash based 1 to 1 chat system (think AIM) that is localized to this site. As these features become available we will let everyone know!
